Table Of Contents
"The reader will find within these pages an examination of over 5,340 primary and secondary county courts throughout the United States. The surveys were conducted in a direct, person to person mode. Each chapter begins with a summary of the state court system, state vital records (marriage-divorce-birth-death), and the state criminal record repository. Also included is a list of the county seats and, at the end of the chapter, an extensive city to county cross reference index. The emphasis of each individual county court interview was to detect; where each civil judgement and criminal record repository was located, the cost and procedures involved in obtaining copies of such records, how the records are stored or indexed, any special search criteria, and which records are not released. In addition, each county has a 'pointer' (address and phone number) to records involving probate, recorded deeds and liens, and property tax records" -- Introd
